Sorry I've been away from the forum for so long. It's been a busy summer for me with lots of travel away from Portland and not much time for posting.
Here is an image from a backpacking trip into Jefferson Park in late July. I was there before the main wildflower displays were going, but there was still a fair amount of ice left in the alpine tarns.
Nikon D80, 12-24mm Nikkor Dx lens. 1/30 sec at f/16, ISO 100, polarizer, 2 stop soft GND filter. B/W conversion in CS4.
All C&C are appreciated. I'm interested to read your thoughts on this one.

Scott, I like your composition on this and the B&W treatment. However, the center shoreline looks too dark to me, kind of like a black hole in the middle of the image.

I think it looks pretty good. The foreground doesn't do a whole lot for me. I think the reason is that the B&W treatment makes it hard to tell weather it's rock or ice though I do suspect it's ice.

Thanks Joe and Erik for your comments. I agree about the dark center of the frame and the foreground ice looking like rock. This one doesn't seem to present well on the web, since the original file doesn't really look this way. I decided to go back and process the photo in color to see how it would turn out. Let me know what you think.

Scott I much prefer the repost, allthough it does take away from the mood the first picture had. I was thinking that you could tone down the bightness of the ice a little in the first post and that might help, just thoughts.

I think the color one works a bit better, Scott. I like how the ice spit lines up with the cloud split.
