A reality show for photographers!
I would assume, if any of our members are appearing in this, we would have already heard about it.
Here's the email announcement:
Shoot! Colorado premiers Tuesday, September 21 at 7:30pm
Six contestants compete in a series of photographic challenges in hopes of being judged the best photographer and winning a prize package to help launch their careers. Each of the SHOOT! contestants is paired with an established professional Colorado photographer as a Mentor, to assist them in achieving the best results during
each challenge. Watch the Contestants and Mentors as they battle their way to victory during each of the Challenges.
6 episodes will be broadcast on KBDI - all at 7:30 pm
9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26

I was wondering when they would create a reality show on photography. They have cooking, fashion designers, weight loss, housewives, you name it. Time for us to get in on the action! it would be great if something like this went national and people from the NPN forums were contestants!

Wow, that sure snuck in under the radar. Anyone here involved as a contestant or mentor who was not allowed to divulge it til now? Anybody? We've got the best collection of Colorado photographers on the planet, after all.
I applied to be a contestant but I wasn't "amateur" enough to get accepted.

I also interviewed for a spot, but I probably wasn't exciting enough for them after they had been interviewing all day. I also wonder if I also wasn't "amateur" enough for them.

Mystery solved! I went to Shoot!Colorado.com and read up on the contestants and mentors. There are 3 mentors: 2 specialize in shooting weddings and one specializes in Senior portaits and youth sports.
Not to demean those areas of specialization (I spent my time working in all 3 of those areas) but not exactly related to Nature photography.

Bill B., where does it mention that each of the challenges are related to nature photography?
Yeah, they stated that was the main area they were looking for. I have experience working at a Portrait studio and some wedding experience but it's just not the part of photography I enjoy as much.

Neil, it doesn't mention Nature Photography anywhere. The point I was attempting to make is that since the "mentors" that were selected specialize in disciplines other than Nature Photography and this is a Nature Photography forum, there might not be much exposure (pun intended) to Nature Photography on the show. No offense to wedding and portrait shooters was intended.

From the title "Shoot Colorado", I had assumed there would be at least some Colorado nature/sports/adventure challenges. After looking at their website, the judges and contestants, I'm beginning to doubt there will be any. Oh, well. It could still be interesting. Sorry for getting anyones hopes up.
My friend Andrew Clark is one of the judges. I cant wait to see it.

Cool, Rich. I'm not a big fan of "reality" shows but I'll probably tune in for grins.

When I went to their first Meetup, they explained that their vision was that they would connect with Colorado communities and businesses that needed photographs for their marketing, in exchange for helping to sponsor their show. In my mind, that means that there will be more emphasis on archetectural, over nature photography. Obviously, we'll find out tonight.
BTW, it will only be on Denver channel 12 at 7:30.

BTW, there is a photography reality show on national TV, Bravo I think. It follows some fashion photographer and his crew around on high level shoots. It mostly highlights the dysfunctional relationships amongst his crew and what a pogue he is.
I've wondered about a good photography based show like top chef, something that covers a wide variety of disciplines and brings in varied experience levels and specialties. I don't think I get Denver channels or I might watch a few episodes.

Grant, that's about what I thought. So far, I'm not feeling so bad about not being selected.

Yep, I watched it too and wasn't super impressed.

That was painful ! I appreciate that photographing furniture and doing it well can be quite difficult, but using it as the challenge for this series premiere! They should be awarded an Emmy, if they could pull that off, and make it interesting!
That was hard to watch. I agree with Grant that it really looks like it's just an opportunities for the sponsors to advertise. Maybe it was just the first episode since we had to meet all the players, but...damn, that was a pretty boring commercial. Hopefully it'll get better once we get to see what the show is ostensibly about...photography!
