Quite warm here for this time of year. The Fall colors along the river banks are turning and looking good. There is a fire going which has shut down Dunraven Pass so the Bear sightings are down.

The Madison River has a couple of good bulls. One 7x7 and a large 6x6. I've been shooting River Otters for the last two mornings along with Bald Eagles, and Elk. The wildlife sighting are picking up. The Closure of Dunraven makes it a little tougher to get around. Gas here is running around $3.05.

Hit the Tetons before coming up. There is a Prescribed fire going in the Gros Ventre basin playing havoc with scenic shooting. However the Moose shooting is great. There is the usual crowd on Moose Wilson road shooting 5 black bears in the Service Berry bushes. The Oxbow was mostly green when I left 4 days ago. I'll be returning tomorrow to the Tetons and if I have time will update the report.

Thanks for the report, Don. I'm leaving tomorrow and will stop at Maroon Bells on the way up. Should get there by Saturday and will be staying about 5-7 days then heading for Ouray/Telluride area.

Where did you find the otters? I've seen them on the Yellowstone and the Lamar Rivers in the past.

I was aware of the fire, it started about a week ago east of Mt Washburn, sounds like it has grown considerably.

I'm driving a silver 2003 4Runner with a Yakima roof rack in case you see me.
