Nice - really rich colours in the dippers breast. I normally end up with them in black and white! Great detail - nice capture!

Superb exposure! First photo of a dipper I've seen where you can make out the pupil.

Good stuff! Think a lower viewpoint may have been better (if possible).

Wonderfull colour-rich shot Phillip. I actually think the British subspecie is a bit more brownish than those I see from Scandinavia. This one sure is very warm in the colours. :toast:

hi helge I find my D2x is a little warm in colour I think the white balance was set at 5600 which is a smidgen warmer than midday sunlight, the link will take you to 1 with the white balance set at 5200 and I feel that it is a little cool, it is a JPEG taken straight from the raw file not sharpened or anything else just straight from the camera converted to JPEG saved for the Web out of photo shop as you can see it does look a little cooler and the Browns are darker.

Phillip.

Hi Phillip, by second thought I think the the first photo is the most accurate. No doubt what fooled me is the colour-difference between the Continental and the British subspecie. This link describes it well: http://www.birdsireland.com/pages/site_pages/features/dipper.html

Hi Philip,
Fasinating little birds and a fine shot of one too.
Now I've seen the original jpeg I can't decide which version I prefer, possibly somewhere between the two.
