Fire In The Sky
Have posted this image before, but now it is many months later (maybe even a year) and although I will never have a true handle on photo editing I think I am getting a little better.

This image is during the Winter months last year here in San Diego when low tides and sunsets with tremendous color are abundant. Took this at dusk when most of the people enjoying the tide pools pack up and head out.

I know most of you are looking forward to the Fall colors, but in San Diego Fall is hard to find, so I really look forward to the Winter months of early sunsets coinciding with extreme low tides. Enjoy.

Comments and suggestions always welcome.

f16
shutter speed 40sec
ISO 100
cloned a few people out along the horizon
Basic edits done in Aperture
Sharpened, and some selective color sat increases in PS CS4
you can see the old post in my posting profile gallery

Thanks

Nicely done.

It looks like one of Jimmy's favorite spots, judging the round holes in the rock.

La Jolla Tide Pools - I believe JG has a few shots of the area as well.

David,

I like the composition and the placement of the horizon line. The balance between dark foreground and bright sky also works well, and the colors are great! Watch that the horizon is level, it's the best way to preserve our oceans. This is especially difficult to judge when using wide angle lenses.

David,

Nicely done, but sea level is tilting very slightly to the left. Up here a little north the sunsets during fall and winter can be just as colorful and captivating. Palos Verdes Peninsula near San Pedro is my favorite place.

Truly has that San Diego beach / shoreline area look to it, David. Very nice sunset capture with the inclusion of the long FG shoreline bedrock too.

David, great sweeping fg diagonal lines! Love them potholes in the middle ground too!
