Lovely light and the tones of the heather holding up better than here . More space right and less trees?

Super shot, wets the appetite for October  Agree perhaps a bit more room on the right. :toast:

Agree a little more room on the right would have been perfect. A lovely shot otherwise. I love the OOF heather. Makes for a really moody atmosphere. I'm envious we have another couple of weeks to go over here yet before the rut. :wavey:

Love the heather colours, stonking.

A well captured shot of the stag but I find that the branches at the top compete with the antlers. Still miles better than anything I have managed! :toast:

Thanks for your replies so far. I agree a bit more sape on the right would have been better but this is full frame so not much i could do about that.

We have the Red Deer rut from mid September to start of October in the forest area where this was shot as these Deer are originally from Germany and in our largest wetland reserve we have large numbers of Red Deer wich are originally from Scotland so the rut starts later (in October) down there.

Hope to get some more shots of this years rut and if not, who knows i might get over to the UK.

greetings,

Jeroen Stel

I think the heather adds to the shot, but dont like the trees in the background too much.

A nice moment well caught Jeroen.

Great light on the subject as well.

Did you try any with a horizontal crop from this position as I think that would balance the composition a little better.

Cheers

Hello Jeroen.

Beautiful light and capture.

Nits covered so no point in saying them again.
