Capitol Peak - 3 Sunsets
To take advantage of the full moon and the brief stormy weather last week, I spent 4 days doing hikes near Capitol Peak in the Elk Mountains, and shot 3 sunsets with the peak. This one is from the summit of K2- a subpeak of Capitol.

I had a very productive time, and posted a lot of my favorite shots here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery/capitol-peak/

Take a look, and thanks for your comments! :toast:

You've completely outdone yourself this time Jack! Amazing! All killer images, but the one above is spectacular!

Wooooow. All of them are just shockingly amazing. Really love the Pierre Lakes wide angle. :toast:

Given how monumental your image portfolio is, I don't know how you've done it, but you have outdone yourself with this series. Absolutely amazing!

This a tremendous series of unique images with exquisite light and outstanding technical execution. You are on a great roll! Now get back out there!

All are killer! My picks are the dusk earthshadow colors and the Pierre Lakes view.

Edit: Gotta add the rugged spire to that list too.

Oh, Mommy! It's not enough that your climbing and adventure skills are this good, but you add in your talent as a photographer, and voila', you get an extraordinary mix of art at altitude! :toast:

Spectacular set. :toast:
I love the views of the Bells from K2.

Killer! Man, what a great trip you had. I think we are all jealous. The ultra wide shot from K2 kicks some serious butt. :toast: :toast: :toast:

These are all great, but the Ultra wide view of Pierre Lakes rivals anything from your incredible New Zealand and Norway collections.

An impressive collection of images from a beautiful area I am not familiar with. Thanks for sharing.

Now that I looked at this photo more, I would suggest a crop from the left until you reach the peak (or maybe a little before that). I really like that comp myself. Thanks again for posting.

Amazing series! All of them are wonderful, but I must say from my perspective, the Beaver Lake reflections is one of my favorites.

Jack gets the brief snow window. I'm jealous. You have up'd your game. 10's my favorite, it's beautiful, but it doesn't work without that light dusting of snow. The K2 shot is amazing as well. I love that sun just beaming into my eyes, just like I was there. I think you may have motivated me to do my Snowmass Mountain idea. I won't get that snow...Boooo! But the weather has been so darn nice a camp at 13,000-ft should be fine.

Great collection Jack. The one posted here is my clear favorite, and has the best combination of composition, lightingn and "moment." Love the direct view into the setting sun, and the clouds make a very good picture into a great one. Can't wait to see what else you get this fall.

Man, this is an incredible set of images, did you get all these in those four days? Unbelievable. :toast:

These are all views that I have never seen before, and will probably never see on my own.
For that I'm profoundly grateful for you sharing these here.
I like every single one of these, with the one posted here as a slight favorite. Momo's crop suggestion is a good one, IMO.
