Hello Everyone,
After taking an early retirement from my business five years ago, I started to become more active in my hobby. I started slowly with a Canon Sure Shot Camera. That's all it took to get me hooked. About three years ago, I purchased a Canon EOS 10 D. I now have a good variety of lenses and other equipment. I'm into macro, wildlife and waterfall photography. I consider myself a novice amateur nature photographer. Now that I have all the spare time I want, I find myself spending as much time as possible outdoors and practicing my photo skills. I own a Canon i9900 photo printer and am actively learning Photoshop Elements 4.0. I recently purchased a Canon 1d Mark II, which intimidates me a little compared to my 10d, but I'll grow into it. I really am dedicated to improving my skills and would greatly appreciate hearing from you when I post questions. Hopefully I'll get the nerve to post some of my photos for your comments and suggestions. I live in Sussex County, New Jersey.
Regards to all,
Gene Steinberg

Hi Gene,
I vividly recall how intimidated I was about posting for the first time - that's a pretty nervous feeling when you step up to plate - you're not as concerned about hitting a homerun as you are simply surviving that fast ball coming at your head at 100 mph. But honestly, after the first post jitters go away you'll find that you're hooked. Moreover, you'll find that your photography will improve greatly with the help of other's hints, suggestions, and critiques. Don't let nerves keep you from the improvement you seek - jump in, you'll find the water delightful.

Gene,

I did the same thing 6 years ago (I'm 53 now) and since then I've been busier than before between photography & consulting with 2 companies in my area of knowledge. The good thing is I get them to pay for a lot of my airfare and only put in a few days a week.

Anyhow, nice to meet you. Jim is right about the folks here. It's a good bunch.

Sincerely,

Jack

Hi Gene and welcome. Besides posting, I also recommend critiquing others' work. Critically studying the work of others will help you to objectively critique your own work.
