Shot this self portrait a few summers ago on a trip up to the top of California's 20th highest peak, Mt. Agassiz. Tried summiting twice at night, didn't make it the first time so second time's the charm!
Here is a little bit of info on the peak, it's a class II climb unless you take a route where you need to boulder. I had to do some bouldering to avoid the melt water in the gulley but mostly all class 2 scrambling. It's an easy route up in daylight just not the most obvious to find while there. From below it looks easier to find. No trail from Bishop pass but there are tiny bits of goat trails here and there. There is a small tarn above Bishop Pass where you get some water before heading up. Even though there was water on the way up.
I have an older blog post with more of the trip details in it.

Nice Steve,
Your composition is very inclusive, gives me the sense of being there with you watching the morning colors change the face of the mountain and then wondering how I'm going to eat oatmeal for breakfast again. I'm not much of a backpacker obviously. Oh well thanks for sharing.

It's the definition of a beautiful scene and inhospitable landscape. Makes you wonder what a goat even finds to eat up there.

You've gotta love the arete you've shown in this image. Great mountain shot. Must have been a little challenging in the dark. Nicely done.
Beautiful shot Steve, I love the Bishop Lake / Dusy Basin area.
