Anyone ever shot here, or anywhere close to here? I may be camping there next week for a night, and would love some advice on good trails, vantage points, etc. if you've ever been. Looks like night photography in the bristlecones is the way to go, but any sunrise/sunset spots would be helpful. Thanks!
Jared, it's a long time now since I was there, and I wasn't as serious a photographer then. But I do remember great colored aspen groves in Baker Creek. I was there in mid-October, so you may be early for that, but I'd definitely check it out. The scenery towards the top of Baker looked like it would be awesome. Wheeler is a pretty easy summit if you're in shape, and the cirques below are amazing. I imagine any of the high cirques you could get to at sunrise would be very rewarding.

Thanks for the info Jackson. Looks like they have some caves there as well, but they frown upon tripods??? If you want to use a tripod, looks like you have to schedule a private tour for $60 an hour. Not sure how much time I will have in the park, but would love to hike up into the cirques. Thanks again.
Not many people go out there because it's relatively far from anything else. Like Jackson, I wasn't really a photographer the last time I was there. There were nice aspen groves at the top of the road. If you have time, check out Mount Moriah nearby as well. Unfortunately, I can't make any guess at timing for color in the aspens, but I bet the rangers would be happy to talk to you on the phone. My impression is that they didn't get too busy...

I was out there a couple years ago and there's lots of photographic potential. I've got a couple shots on my website here. If you're only there for a short time I personally would skip the Lehman caves and make the hike to the bristlecone pine grove in the Wheeler Peak area and/or the Wheeler summit. An overnight backpack to the bristlecone groves around Pyramid Peak would be at the top of my list if I ever make it back out there.
