I just uploaded an image of some flowers to the macro/close-up gallery. The resulting image on the site had very different colours than the image on my PC (in Photoshop or other apps). This was using the same monitor so that is not a factor. It looked like the uploaded image was fairly drastically de-saturated! I have not had this happen with the few other images I have uploaded.
Any idea what is going on?
Thanks,
Simon

Simon,
This isn't likely an NPN issue, as others some times try and claim. This is a browser and profile issue. I see from your image that the color profile is "CIE RGB." I don't know what that color space is, but I know it's not sRGB.
What browser are you using? I just opened this thread in 2 different browsers - FireFox and IE v8. IE is considerably less saturated than what I'm seeing in Firefox.
The issue is that IE is not "color aware" and FireFox and other browsers are. In other words, Firefox knows various color profiles and will correctly display them. IE however does not know about color profiles and therefore they get ignored.
The most common recommendation is to save/convert your web image to the sRGB color space before posting. It's the least common denominator, but the most efficient way to insure your images are being displayed as you want them.
Hope this helps and makes sense.

Lon's right. Images posted on the web need to be in sRGB color space, or the colors will not look right, in most cases, to most people.
Btw, to me the flowers in you image look strongly magenta in Firefox and the color is much subdued in Internet Explorer, kind of a flat pink.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Changing the colour space to sRGB took care of the problem. So many things to learn...sigh!

So many things to learn, and we learn them one bit at a time...
Not sure where you changed it, but you should continue working in a color space, like Adobe RGB or whatever, just remember to convert it before posting on the web.
