Fall Trek 2010 Pt II
A little different than the first series, here's a few from Red Mountain Pass, plus some more subtle stuff from Major Creek in the Sangres. Heres' Red Mtn Pass area.

2) a little mist rising off the lake...

3) Off to the Sangres (aspen were much nicer there!). I had read (in J Moores guide) that there were beaver ponds a couple miles up the Major Creek drainage, and i thought to myself "hmmm...pond, aspen, pond, aspen" so after asking directions (since Moore's directions are almost always off!) i reached the trailhead, with one horse trailer in the lot. A couple miles up trail, sure enough--aspen and beaver pond!

4) Then i spotted this red patch of aspen way in the distance, and thought--i must photograph this! But after hiking a couple more miles to treeline, i couldnt get a good close vantage point. Then, the horseback folks came down the trail and this guy insisted he could give me precise directions to see the aspen. Well, after bushwacking for hours through dense forest, i finally realize that his directions sucked too, so i retreated down the trail, climbing the ridge further down to get a far off look at the aspen patch.

5) More blazing aspen way up the major creek trail

6) Silverjack was quite nice too...

7) One more from Red Mtn
Thats all folks (well, except for the top secret fall contest entries  )

#6 and #1 were my faves-but all round nice images! When did you shoot the Silverjack image?

Last Thursday --the final day with clouds (maybe for ever...)

Great set. I especially like #6 and #7.

I love the blue/gold contrast in #5. But my personal preference would be to lighten that dark sky. On my monitor it appears "overpolarized".

They're all nice Stan, but 1 and 2 are my favorites. I spent the weekend over there and the clear skies were a killer.

Beautiful series. They are all excellent, but I also like 1 and 6 the most.

Purdy series Stan, #1 would be my pick.

Yup, #1 is a keeper. Great shot!

I really like what you are doing! That first one is really sweet!

Those clouds are killing me!!! #1 is really amazing, but I love all of them!

I'm liking #2...it has an artistic feel to it.

#6 is THE shot. Seriously.

Stan - all good but, really like # 2!

Wow Stan...just another great series of images from you. I would have to say I like them all, but the ones that stand out even more to me are 1,3 and 7. Love the reflections in the first two I names and the light and shadows in #7 are incredible.

2,6 and 7, man; those are awesome shots.

2, 6 and 7 are outstanding. Can't wait to see your "secret" contest entry

These all are perfect illustrations to the "sensory overload" that is fall in Colorado. After a day of viewing and capturing these scenes, especially as great as you have in this set, your eyes burn and water. They are all too strong to pick a fave! :toast:

Spectacular colors - I get nothing like this in my part of Montana! :frown: I especially like #6 and 7! :wavey:

Not a bad shot in the bunch!

Thanks for sharing, Stan. These images are beautiful. I now
know where some good locations are for autumn.
