On a recent reptile survey my wife almost trod on this female adder. The snake was so cold she just sat there while I took a few photos. The adder was not in a photogenic spot, there was a large feather immediately to her left that I did not want to remove. However, while processing I cropped in so that just the head was showing and I rather liked the result.

Thanks for looking.

Nice subject and POV, though the head doesn't look sharp Dave, (Not having a go, just an observation:smile:)

Hi David. I would be happier with a slightly tighter crop myself - just so the snake is in the shot and no bg.

Nice though.

Hi David

I like it as well David but I do agree it lacks critical sharpness.

 Oh dear, this just goes to prove that you should never post a picture late at night after several glasses of wine. Last night it looked beautifully sharp, on my works monitor this morning it seems to have mysteriously lost quality overnight. The criticism on sharpness is totally justified, but I do not agree with Ian about the tighter crop as I rather like the way the body curves round behind the head.

Re-worked version attached, but I still don't think it is sharp enough.

Enough contrition, I'm off for a strong coffee.   but no :toast:

I like the composition David but I agree with you it still isn't sharp enough

John,

My first stacked snake image is of a grass snake, taken the same day as this one. I'll make it my next posting... as long as it is sharp on re-examination:wink:

Hi David,

Sharpness aside this is a very pleasing composition and i like the Snake's pattern and curves.

Composition works, exposures good...but if it ain't sharp it says hello to the delete button I'm afraid!

I certainly wouldn't press the delete button on this David and would be very happy to have this is my collection. Funny how perfectionists and pains start with the same letter
