I am trying to plan my October weekends and would like for someone who lives in the NW AR area to let me know how the colors (if any) are progressing. I read we are trying to get our fall gathering the last weekend in October, which sounds great. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Dottie

Here in Fayetteville I'm definitely seeing some yellowing of many trees, but of course it's still mainly green. If the current trend of chilly nights and sunny days keeps up, we might be seeing some serious color in a few weeks.

We had some really spectacular color in early September, but then all the rains came and messed it up - literally drained the color from the landscape. As Randy noted, if we continue in the current dry spell, that will be great for the colors and they will eventually pop, but no telling when or where. Late October is always wonderful up here no matter what though! I'll be posting lots of color-progression updates in the Cloudland Journal this month as always...

I was over in the Steel Creek area of the Buffalo Saturday morning, and there is a generalized but still slight yellowing going on there, and the occasional ruddiness as well. I even saw one sweet gum with about half its leaves already turned red.
