I had no idea where on the highway to go for fall colors, so I just headed up there last Sunday, pre-sunrise and took my chances. I don't like shot-gunning it like that, but I did alright. These are all on the Wyoming side
This is where I set up for first light. Those are Pilot and Index Peaks, with the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River in the fg. I stood in the middle of the river for this one, but it was less than a foot deep.

That first one is fabulous! I'm enchanted by Pilot Peak. What an interesting mountain and the light you have on it is wonderful. Great job, especially for winging it!
Fantastic Image Doug, love that Pilot peak one, still on my to climb list. Tried a couple years back but got off route, that along with the incredibly rotten rock didn't make for a fun time.....The others are great as well, looks like the color is about at peak up there?

I like 'em all, but that first one is superb! Not too bad at all for 'shotgunning' it!
That Pilot Peak shot is killer! With a little more pop, I could really get into #2 as well. I always like shots of fall color in drier-looking country.

Like the color of the peaks in the first image.

Well number #1 is just killer and my favorite, but the others give a better overall feel for the area and I think they're both really nice. I like the reworks too.

Your redos were the right call...they both 'pop' quite a bit more now.
