Male Bullfinch
One from my bullfinch collection, might be a bit plain to some but wanted to keep it plain and simple including the perch so not to compete with bullie.Just a slight crop for comp

A beautiful bird, captured well Karen. There are a few of these in our area but I have never had any success getting close to them, must try harder this winter.

An excellent shot of a very elusive bird
Well done Karen.

Karen

I've never seen one let alone photographed the species. Excellent image.

Echo all the points above. Have only occasionally seen these, would love to get an image half as good as this. I think its superb :toast: :toast: :toast:

Beautiful Karen. Not an easy bird to attract - I failed last winter so I have a different set up for this winter.

Lovely - and just imagine how much better it could be if there was a way of improving the perch. Apologies in advance if you ever think that I am nit-picking about your images, it's just that I see so much potential in your photography but there is often just a little oversight that can be so easily remedied, in this case it's the twig! If there are possibilities of working with this species in future I'd also consider trying to do some 'small-in-the-frame' stuff as a male bully would add such a delightful punctuation of color to almost any scene.

Don t think you are nit picking Andrew thats what the forum is for, the perch was left plain because I wanted it be and look more natural, I do have some on different perchs some with the lichen on we all like but sometimes the perches I think sometimes out do the bird in a way, some of the perches take the eye first and I wanted this bullie to be centre stage hence the plain boring perch

Hello Karen.

Beautiful capture of the Bullfinch and as you have said this is how you wanted it to look, you have acheived it really well.

Very envious Karen as this is a bird I'd love to photograph.
The image works very well and I can totally see where you're coming from, regarding giving full emphasis on the bird. :toast:
