I haven't been able to participate on here very much lately but I have managed to check in now and then and a couple of things have caught my eye, certainly the cropping and cloning issues and the old chestnut of classifying 'wildlife photographers/photographers of wildlife/just camera nuts etc. I'm not going to rake up old stuff but instead will post an old kingfisher image of mine.
I just checked the original raw file and this is full frame and no cloning has been carried out so it should be safe. . . however. . .
Lee Fisher posted a lovely shot of a KF which seems to have caused a stir. It would appear that not only can we not crop or clone but we shouldn't post anything that is taken at another persons set up!
Well this image was taken at a public site (any number of people could have been sat next to me and captured the same image), the subject is totally wild and the perch was selected by the bird hence that annoying little twig and the background, whilst not as smooth as a well set up shot, is perfectly natural.
Now I'm willing to bet that there are loads of viewers who will be thinking (though probably now afraid to mention it) that the twig should be cloned out and that the background could be smoother. Well to hell with it, I am going to clone it out and even if I didn't actually set up this site myself I'm glad I've got it in my files to console me for the other hundreds of hours I've spent staring at sod all from that hide!
It's good to be back!

It looks very much like a "It is I, LeClerc" moment
Not something I have ever seen either or I suspect very many people. I didn't realise they could be such late risers. Very original
Not an image you see every day and a good image to have, showing one aspect of their behaviour/life.
I'd clone out the small bit of foliage on the edge of the frame.
Nice to see something original. There have been lots of lovely Kingfisher shots posted but this is definitely different and all the nicer for it.

Missed this earlier. Great stuff- very relaxed and different from the norm.
Not sure about the background bit behind the head. Twigs ok by me.

I've never seen one sleeping either, well done for being different.
Geoff.
It's not sleeping it's camera shy. I like the twig too.
Well caught and so different.

Lovely shot with a very nice feel to it. Background is fine for me but the twig on the right would have to go.
