Late one evening last week 2 swans started courting behind me in the canal at Lake Geneva,1 swan going in circles one way and the other swan going the other,I grabbed my 20D with 70-200 attached and tried to get an image showing the movements of the swans which all ended up in the bin except this one which was the only image taken handheld, all the others were on tripod and had shrp background with blurred swans and looked naff,at some point during this image i imagine i must have moved the focal length as it has a zoom effect,I dont remember doing it and its completely unintentional but here it is-for the bin yes or no or is it artistic license,I have looked at it for a couple of days and quite like it but unsure

Hi Dave,
A tricky one to decide on ,is this.
Part of me quite likes the effect and it's a bit different from the norm, however it doesn't half make you dizzy looking at it for too long ,so on that basis I'd say bin it.

IMHO Dave, it's one for the bin!
The swan on the right is too close to the frame edge and a good bit hot.
If, however, both swans had been shifted to the left and we had a bit of symetery (?, then it could have been different.
Might sound negative, but I can't see this passing as art.
Hi Dave, I'm not much for blurry motion images, but it does have some attractiveness over it. Don't bin it, one day it will sell

Hi Dave
This one doesn't hit the spot - so Yes. Given the near perfection of some of your other recent swan shots, though, you should be able to live with that..

Quite like it. Unusual image, different from the norm. Nice effort and good creativity! Graeme

John
it'd make a fortune in the tate modern, so go and hang it up in there and we can bulldoze the whole place into the thames
I'm with John regarding better composition.
Although for an accident shot it still gives a pretty good effect.
Maybe when they are in a better pose try this type of effect and see what the results are like.

Rob
Not arty anough for the Tate modern then try the NHS
