Ok, time for the quarterly kick up the collective backsides as a few of you seem to be suffering from a few delusions about this forum and its uses recently. (Either that or some of you have severe PMT at the minute!.)

The negative grumpy stuff....

- This forum is about critiquing Nature photographs. The tone and direction of this forum is set by Jim, Tom and myself. Not by self-elevated individuals with misguided ideas over what Nature Photography is and isn't. This is not a 'Purists' forum, we do not harken back to some 'golden age' of photography that never existed. We do have a reasonably wide definition of what constitutes a Nature photograph, and we intend it to stay that way thank you.

- If your idea of what constitutes 'Nature Photography' doesn't match ours, then so be it. You are free to stay or leave as you wish... but if you stay, you abide by the rules and guidelines of NPN and UKNP as outlined by Jim and us.

- This forum is not about airing your political grievances and conspiracy theories. The forum is a strictly neutral place when it comes to matters political, ecological, religious and racial. People from many backgrounds and walks of life come here to enjoy their hobby (and sometimes profession) of Nature Photography, and to enjoy the photographs that others take. If you want to get involved in whatever your pet soap-box topic is, then go and find that club on the internet and join and pay their membership - you'll find a more appreciative audience then!

- This forum is not about the rights and wrongs of photographic workshops, competitions, game farms, honeypots or wildlife tours, nor the individuals who run or attend them. If you don't like them or the individuals who use them, then that is your prerogative, but don't bang on about it to the rest of us.

- This forum is not about airing your jealousy to anyone and everyone who (doesn't) care to read about it. So don't do it - you only make yourself look foolish, and make the rest of us tired of your biased views.

- Don't try and act as the conduit for 'phantom' voices. If people haven't got the backbone to publicly stand by their own comments then why act on their behalf? If they want to be heard, then they can contact us, or join and post their views.

- Don't make postings personal. See the jealousy point above.

- It's human nature, cliques exist. People can and do have differing points of view to yours. That doesn't make them any more or less right or wrong. See personal/jealousy points above.

- Don't use the NPN messaging systems to send hate mail or stalk people. Anyone caught doing so in future will be removed from the forum.

- This forum is not rated 18+. We do have younger members joining and viewing the forum, so please keep your posts polite and suitable for 'family viewing'.

- Don't make the mistake of thinking Jim, Tom or myself have any personal favourites, or grudges or grievances against any one of you, or that we give any preferential treatment to anyone on the forum. That way you won't be surprised when you find how impartial and impersonal we can be when you find yourselves on the wrong side of a moderator! We are here to ensure the smooth running of the forum, not to take sides.

- Don't take any of the above as being 'personal' or against any single poster on this forum. If you do, then maybe you should ask yourself why you find it 'personal'...

Nick & Tom.
