Looks great to me, it's an unusual viewpoint but it really shows up the feather details
Well captured.

Geoff.

Never seen this shot before and I like the angle given that it shows off the plumage so well. Given limitless opportunites, I think I would have tried a greater DoF to try for some more definition in the background. Just enough to try and turn the surf from a white patch into identifiable white water. It's really nice to see its home environment in the background like that.

Excellent use of BG!

I have to disagree with Eric about trying to increase the detail in the background. For me the beauty of a shot like this is that the detail captured in the bird is brought into sharp relief by the oof background - the greater the difference the more I can appreciate the detail. In this case there is plenty of information in the background to give a sense of the birds environment without the need for more. So for me this is as near a perfect portrait of the bird as you can get. Spot on Guy.

Good one Guy - great feather detail and I think the background frames the head particularly well :toast:

I think you have the DOF spot on Guy. The detail in the bird is exquisite and there is enough information in BG to put a sense of environment to the image. Over the shoulder provides a good composition for this. :toast: :toast:
