An excellent capture Oscar
The reflection really makes it for me.
Personally I'd run the healing brush or clone tool over those dark blobs in the lower half of the image, the ones directly under the bird I'd leave alone.
No doubt the purists will disagree with me
Well done.
Geoff.

I'm with Geoff on cloning out the dark specs - and probably give it a slight rotation so the reflection was directly underneath. That said a very striking image, perfect in its simplicity
A beautiful image Oscar. Reflection is perfect. Lovely detail. Agree about cloning the couple of dark patches but with the all talk recently I can understand why you left them.
Thanks guys - I actually am now not sure whether they are dust spots or not - I entered this into the RSPCA young photographer awards where it has so far got to the last 34 images - now I wish I had got rid of them...

Hello Oscar,
That is a beautiful reflection, but it definitely needs the anti-clockwise rotation to set it off.
If you have photoshop and just in case you didn't already know, use the ruler tool to draw a line from the tip of the bill to the tip of the reflection of the bill. Image>rotate canvas>arbitrary>CCW>OK and re-crop. I love the colours in this as well btw.
Good luck in the comp (cloning may not have been allowed anyway, so you did right sending it in as is). I shall be watching out for the results. eric
A classic image of one of my favourite subjects. It's simplicity is its strong point. Definitely needs a bit of ccw rotation but other than that a very nice image indeed. Good luck with the competition, let us know how you get on.

Needs the CCW otherwise a nice image indeed. Good luck.
