A very natural-looking shot, Phil. There is a lot of vegetation around the subject, but when you see them in the wild (as opposed to under refugia), this is often just the way they are. Focus spot on where it needs to be.

Like the scene in Jurassic park where the raptor appears through the vegetation...love the small scale and sharpness!

Nice and interesting angle on this fella Phil. Good detail where it counts and sows the environment well. Might be a bit busy for some and you can't help the lighter coloured grass since that's often where they occur.

Nice work.

Focus is spot on where it should be and I certainly don't mind the extraneous vegetation because that is exactly where I would expect to find a slow worm. Depth of field looks good between nose and eye and yet there is still plenty of the OOF body to show what it is. I like it a lot Phil. For a little extra balance I would crop a small amount off the bottom of the frame, but that is a personal opinion and God forbid I wouldn't want you to be hung for it!

Lovely image which shows the worm in its natural environment. Nice angle too. :wavey:
