Managed to get out for an hour today and noticed this spider like creature sitting on some fungi. Thought he looked more menacing in monochrome! Not sure if this is a true spider so any ideas welcome!

Hello Scott, I can't quite make up my mind on this one. Given the subject the B/W treatment appears to work (though I'd like to see the original to compare as there are few NH pictures that I think really work in B/W). I haven't a clue what the insect is but you can bet your life someone on here will be able to tell you. Whilst the focus appears to be spot on the eyes of 'spider' there is a lot of oof stuff going on that is a little distracting. It may be one of those images that grows on you the more you look. Incidentally, I'm looking at this on a very poor works monitor so will take a look at home this evening.
I too would like to see a colour version, I feel that this may not be strong enough to work in mono... Your creature by the way is a Harvestman I believe, a member of the Opilione family and is an arachnid... A Spider has a pair of segments to its body, in a Harvestman these are fused which gives them quite a unique look.. as to species, difficult to say, there are about 25-30 UK species (I think).

Thanks for the replies guys. Interested to know its a harvestman Phil, and as requested I've posted a colour version. This one shot at F14, 1/8 sec at ISO 320 to give more depth of field to the harvestman.
Thanks again!
