A short news clip forwarded to me by a friend from Look North last night regarding seal access at Donna Nook. The facts around seal pup mortality on the outer colony are distressing.
If you go to 14 minutes in, you will see the report
Apologies if this has been highlighted elsewhere. The message is clear that they do not want visitors, including photographers, to go to the colony beyond the fence.
With the start of the pupping season about to commence I thought this information may be of interest.
I went down there for a look last year but decided to stay behind the fence as the numbers of photographers/public going out onto the flats really surprised me and I'd heard of some awful reports of behaviour in the past. I think we'd all do well to set an example and steer clear of the flats for the good of the seals. Good shots can still be obtained from the fence line. Thanks for posting this up Marcus.
