Went to Todd & Bret's workshop at Ouray this weekend, except I couldn't go on Fri. - had to work But had a great time on Sat. shooting around the Telluride area. This was in an aspen grove on the Silver Pick Rd. Todd told us to "look down" which of course I always try to do anyway, and I found this little scene. I liked the contrast of the lone red leaf against all that aspen gold.

I love these intimate compositions. Much harder to pull off than they first appear.

What a fantastic find, Angela! Love the color combination and composition. The fallen aspen in the back is wonderfully textured. This is a really enjoyable image.

Great composition, Angela, it looks like you are adjusting well to life out west.

Angela, beautiful image along with well-placed red leaf. Good advice to look down and around to see what is there. I really like the blurring of the tree as it goes back.

Angela, I agree with the others. Lovely shot and wonderful composition. One tiny suggestion: You might try shading the area so there are no shadows from the grass across the leaves in the foreground. Someone could stand there and block the sun or, you could set it all up and block it yourself. It doesn't ruin the comp, far from it. But it might be an improvement that would make it perfect. :)

Beautiful still life shot. Composition is excellent and the DOF is absolutely perfect as noted.
'Bout the only thing I would fix is cloning out the grass blade shadows that fall across the red leaf and those two errant blades of grass near the lower right corner.

An excellent shot!

Eye-pleasing scene/composition with the angling aspen limb for a backdrop and the red&yellow leaves. Perhaps one of those collapsible diffuser screens would have helped with the shadows.
