I agree the best way to improve the first few is to be out earlier or later and use softer light. Still it's a nice group of images, and the bear shot stands out. I feel for the poor cow elk who is nursing and the bull is nosing around. Just bad timing! The poses of the bison and the trupeter swan are excellent.
Wonderful, really like #1, and #6 the best. When were you there? I was there Sept 25-30 and again on Oct 5,6. I got to see a sow griz and two cubs swim across the Yellowstone River but I was caught in a traffic jam because of them and was only able to watch them from about 60 yards away rather than photograph them. Where did you get your griz shot?
Thanks all for your comments. With animals, the light is what it is when you see them. It does not help being out at 6:30 am (which I was) when the animal is not there :-)
Don, I was there September 20 - 25. It must have been the same grizzly sow and 2 cubs you saw. The traffic jam was incredible. I only managed to get some shots by anticipating their direction and then pulling over ahead of everyone and then squeezing in in a big pull out. I had learned my lesson the first day and had my gear in the back of the car so I needed to only open the hatch.
Yes, getting them swimming would have been great.
