Autumn 2010
I haven't done much work up on images yet but here are a couple. The first is a Photomatix blend of 2 shots. I took three but the overexposed frame did funky things to the clouds so I eliminated it in this version. This was taken along the Taylor River down stream from the reservoir on our way to Tincup. Beautiful colors in the cottonwoods here. Not one of my best from the weekend but wanted to see how a bracketed shot came out.
5D f11 ISO 100 21mm

The second one was an attempt at extending the depth of field with multiple shots. I don't think this was the best candidate for this technique but I wanted to see if I could get the interesting seedheads in the extreme FG in focus along with the rest. It really only needed two shots rather than three. I'm sure you will see the post p issues I had in the FG. Plus the FG plant on the right encroached on the far focus point area. Have to work more on this technique with a suitable scene...but I had to try it  Took this off the road to Cottonwood Lake on the Buena Vista side of the Pass. 5D F11 ISO 100 40mm

PS - Love Love LOVE the 17-40 lens!

Both look like successes, Pam. I really like how the clouds in the first one seem to be a continuation of the curl of the cottonwood grove. The focus stack one looks like it's sharp all the way through, which is something I haven't even deigned to try. It's different. I like it a lot.

That first shot looks really natural and makes me feel like I'm standing there with you on this perfect autumn afternoon. I do see some blurring on the left side of the second one, but not a bad first try, and since I haven't even attempted this yet either. I would have to say, great job!

These are both really nice, Pam. That first one really makes me feel like I'm standing at the edge of the water enjoying a crisp fall day. Just lovely!

Cool! You did a fantastic job of handling the tough exposure in #1.

Very nice! Another in the camp of never attempted focus stacking.

I shot some focus stacking images this fall. I'm now awaiting my new CS5 instruction book so I can try putting them together. I'm glad you gave it a go.

If there's one thing about me, I will try something whether I know what I'm doing or not. Except rollercoasters...don't like them! Thanks for the comments. I was going cross-eyed trying to clear up that LLC grass. No matter whether I used a black or white brush on my masks, I could NOT clear certain spots. This is the tutorial I used:
