ID ?
A very poor grab photo taken from the opposite side of an 8 acre pond.My best guess is an Eared Grebe, but they are not supposed to occur here. There are three of them currently on the pond diving for fish, and can they ever dive! They seem to disappear into thin air (or more likely, water). Any idea what they could be?

Thanks in advance.

My best guess is juvenile Red-necked Grebe

Rita, the bill is too large in proportion to the head for its to be an Eared Grebe. Among North American grebes, only the Red-necked's bill is as long as its head, and only the Red-necked's bill tends to be yellowish. Almost by elimination, Nate's call is right.

Thanks folks. I knew I'd get the right answer here.
