Three R's Sunday
Well for those of our fellow Canp members who missed out on Sunday 10/3, for me it was a 3 R day Two rainbows and a riot. No image of the riot sorry. But I do have the Rainbows one at dawn in the Buttermilks while Chris, Eric and Steve were at North Lake and the 2nd after the Meet and Greet when I grudgingly agreed to take my daughter down to Mono Lake she'd never been. Olympus E-500 Auto settings.

One of my top 3 photo trips

Second Rainbow at Mono lake one of the brightest bows I've ever seen. There is a faint secondary bow above it.

Wow, that Buttermilk image is some intense color! What a show nature put on and nice capture of it. I might back off the reds in the mountains a touch. Nice bow at Mono.

With all the photographers at Whoa Nellie, did anyone get any photos of the riot?If you got 'em, post 'em.

Love the contrast in that first image. Great composition of the glowing mountains, rainy sky, and rainbow. Great image.

Of the two images, I prefer the first. It looks like the mountain is on fire.
The rainbow gives it that little extra something. Thanks for sharing, Paul.

I went through Tony Kuyper's post at ESS talking about imbedded profiles. I looked at this image at work and at home. There is a huge difference in saturation between the two views. At work, it looks about right. At home, it looks very over-saturated, hence my comments above about the reds.

Very, very interesting. Tony's post is well worth the read, with a full explanation at the general forum.

Crazy clouds. I'm not sold on the foreground compositionally in the first photo. It just seems obstrusive to me compared to everything else in the frame.

For the 2nd photo, I'd tone down the highlights and maybe darken sky so the rainbow pops more.

Nice catch with that Mono rainbow. It must have been something, because I just ran into some trail maintenance crew guys that remarked how beautiful that rainbow was that day. Wish I would have caught in on film.
