have some time week after next and was thinking of a mad dash through NW AR. up here in missouri most of our creeks have about stopped moving. i am guessing most of the falls down there as well? if i am after water maybe skip it unless we have some torrential rain before then?
other than maybe falling water are there any other falls that survive through the dry?
thanks for the updates...oh and just for fun i made this timelapse last weekend...kinda goofy, but there are some rotating stars at the end that are sorta cool :)
We are in a pretty typical fall pattern here right now, which means dry creeks and no waterfalls until the leaves get off the trees and a hurricane come and sits on top of us for a few days, normally happens in November or December. I've heard some folks talk about our "drought" - but really, this is just normal year for us right now. Last year was not normal at all, which is why everyone was going nuts. So expect dry creeks and no waterfalls unless something really odd happens. I am expecting to get some of the very best photos of my career this fall - the Ozarks are usually quite spectacular - you just have to get out and find the great images to capture...

thanks tim...and i agree and am still learning to find those shots. but if there's no water in arkansas then there is likewise no reason for me to drive the 5 hrs down there...i got lots of forest without waterfalls right here :)
Our larger creeks like the Buffalo should have some water. Not a lot of water but the pools should have some nice still water that make nice reflections.

Things are bone dry here too, Drew. Certainly drier than usual. In September we average over 3 inches of rain and we had less than half that. So far this month we have had ZERO rain!

Good choice! I'd be heading that way myself if I weren't preparing for my week long trip to the Smokies

smokies is awesome, do NOT miss areas in the cumberland plateau on your way in or out.
