Marmite Barn owl
Hi All,

As usual its been ages since i last posted on here, and i wasnt sure whether to post this or not. The Shot isnt cropped at all, its just been resized, when i first saw it, i thought ******** ive messed that up good and proper ! lol But the more i look at it, i find its growing on me, a couple of other people have said they like it to, so im putting it out there to see what you guys think ?

Was taken in Lincolshire, and is one of a few pairs i have watched for a few years, it did a stealth move on me though, i was looking the opposite direction to where it was, i turned round to see if anything was flying behind me and there it was, so is a **** and turn round grab shot !

Taken with 1D MK4, 600 F4 and 1.4TC, on a tripod.

Wow Ian if only you hadn't had the extender on. That said I quite like how you have framed it - works well.

For me it's very much an 'if only!!!' shot. If only the extender wasn't on the camera, if only the bird had not flown quite so close . . . That would have been a super shot as the pose, detail and focussing are all spot on, but despite your best effort at an artistic crop it just doesn't do it for me.

I love that view of barn owls, with the wings up like a canopy, I’ve tried for this shot many times but have never nailed o0ne quite like this, it’s a shame the light was so harsh.
