I would like to post a photo of the Eastern Sierra from last week, which I have on my Smugmug account, but entering the URL of the photo on Smugmug generates an error. Can someone tell me how to do this?
I'm not a member yet, so I can't upload the .jpg file directly.
Thanks,
John

John,

Step #1. Join NPN. just kidding...

If you're just trying to enter the URL in the "enter URL" box of the Post a topic dialogue, then you'll need the URL of the image. First, go to your image on Smugmug. Make sure you click the image so it comes up in the "overlay" view that you got to from the thumbnail gallery. Don't use the URL in the address bar. You need to right-click on the image itself and go to properties or "view image info" in Firefox. Copy the URL from there. The URL should have a ".jpg" extension instead of all that encrypted junk in the displayed smugmug URL. That link should work.

If you want to insert a link in to your post, open a new post by clicking on the "post a topic" link in the menu bar above. Then click on the "Text style menu" link on the left. that will provide the instructions and syntax for embedding a URL link within a post. It's quite easy once you see how to do it.

Hope that helps and you're able to post an image.

Lon
