Wild Marshland Horse
Hi everyone, I've been Photographing these Wild Horses on the Gower, now for a few months on and off. I must admit, they've become a favourite of mine as well. They keep moving from place to place, so you have to do a fair bit of running around though. This image was taken between Llanrhidian Marshes and Penclawdd(the Cockle grounds). At High water the Horses can often be found standing in the Sea, a strange sight!  . Here this Horse was feeding in amongst the Marshland, at low water. The backdrop is a mixture of mudflats, and grassland, all of which is Tidal. The opportunities for Wading Birds is awsome, if a little dirty. Something I intend to 'exploit' this Winter. Meanwhile, all C&C's welcome. Many thanks,
Paul Rosser. :wavey:

Nicely balanced comp. Needs a bit of detail/sparkle in that eye though .

Another nice image Paul. The straggly look of the horse works well with the reeds/grasses.

I like it.

The OOF foliage in the top left does draw my eye a little, but no biggy.

Lovely creatures, well captured :toast:

I appreciate that there is a fashion for rather dark and moody images and if that is the intention here, then I am happy for you to disregard all that I have to say.

In my opinion, though, the image needs to be considerably brighter; it would also benefit from an increase in contrast and an increase in saturation. The composition would also have been stronger if the horse had been framed so that its head was in the left third of the picture space, although of course there may have been something else, more distracting, to the right which induced you to frame the shot as shown. As it is, I would crop the image to a square format so as to remove the prominent oof Juncus stems.
