UPDATE, 10/13: Now the B&H site says "Sorry, this item cannot be sold on the web." Huh??? SO, make sure you see Adam Schallau's entry below, he posted a link to jr.com that sells them for $29.99. I have purchased from jr.com many times (even Canon lenses), never an issue, so no worries for those who haven't heard of them.

UPDATE, 10/12: It seems B&H stopped the Instant Rebate two days early for some reason (boo, hiss). So now the card shows the regular $50 price. This was a Lexar instant rebate supposedly, so check the link tomorrow and Thursday, the discount may reappear.

That's not a typo, I just bought some! Through 10/14, the Lexar 16GB 200x CF Cards are 28 bucks, and shipping at B&H is cheap, under $4, and if you don't mind slow shipping, it's free! They say that they don't keep them in stock, but I ordered mine on the 8th and they are already in the shipping process. These are pretty speedy at 200x also... that's equivalent to the 30mb/sec SanDisk Extreme IIIs. Fast enough for video and definitely fast enough for some continuous shooting. They aren't UDMA, but at $28 who cares, lol! Still shooters don;t need UDMA IMO, it's more for video. This is a crazy price, get 'em while they're available!

I wonder if this 16GB card will work in my old card reader? A 4GB CF card is fine, but a 4GB SD card will not work. Does anybodsy know if the CF paradigm change to enable the larger size?

I remember back in early 2006, I paid $90 for a 1GB card. The new huge 4GB versions were $350.00... each. Just looney.

Then again, the non-IS Canon 70-200mm/2.8 was $300 cheaper. Guess it all comes out in the wash!

Buck, that depends on the reader if I'm understanding your question right. I picked up a card reader at MicroCenter for 7 bucks that reads my 16GB Extreme UDMA cards no problem, so I imagine anything you get these days at MicroCenter or Fry's or BestBuy should work. Just make sure it says USB2.0, not just 2.0 Compatible!

FYI, before I sold my laptop, I had gotten an ExpressCard CF card reader, and that thing used to transfer at 20+MB/sec on a bad day. If you have a laptop, maybe consider that. My desktop PC has a Dynex Multi-Card reader the shape and size of a floppy drive, which is where I mounted it when I built my PC (in the floppy drive bay, they still exist for card readers more than floppy drives, lol!). I got it at Best Buy for 11 bucks, and it transfers even faster than the ExpressCard reader. So there's some options, if that helps!

I went to the link you provided and the price is $50.99.

RATS. Looks like the sale is over, which is confusing, because the webpage stated that there was a Lexar Instant Rebate (which is what dropped the price to $28) that was good through 10/14. Unless I'm reading my calendar wrong, B&H cut that a couple days early.

I would check back tomorrow and Thursday, just in case they flip it back on. It's happened before.

This seems to come and go. I clicked your link on my phone, and got the $28 version. By the time I got home to my computer, I could only pull up the $50 version. Would suggest keep on trying!

It said the sale would last until the 14th while the supply lasts
