The final image from my captive owls day back in August, I'll soon get back to posting some proper wild stuff instead. I've got plenty of shots of this guy peering out of a hole in a tree, but my personal preference is for the bird on the ground, and the lens almost wide open.
A little larger in the frame than I normally prefer. No excuses - I should have noticed that at the time.
Hi David, yep a fraction smaller in frame would have helped, agreed, but... might tone down the saturation a wee bit. Wish my LO's would be happy to come this close

Thanks for that, Steve. I'm not sure about the toning down, it helps with the green mush in front, but I'm less certain about the effect on the subject. However, here is a version with the saturation reduced, so people can decide for themselves.
Nice shot of this cute litlle guy.
Only nit is that the background is a litlle noisy.

Hi David, a nice image in my opinion. Having looked at the two images, I agree with the desaturation on the FG, but also agree with you about the Bird. The BG on the repost is noisy, though.

1600 iso on D200 is going to get noisy, but nice detail in the bird , a pleasing comp too
