The Dunes
Went to Sand Dunes and Black Canyon last month after the Colorado Balloon Classics. Although we missed the sunflowers, sand dune is still a magical place to unleash the imagination. So here are a couple of them, comments always welcome :toast:

#8. Sparkling! That's it :-)

Outsanding! The only thing I'd change in any of these is to crop the second one right above the lower clouds. The third one, if you were to crop off about the bottom third (not that you need to), looks like the midsection of a naked woman in repose. That Black Canyon shot is scary good.

Thanks Todd! Agree with crop on the 2nd one, and you reeeally have great eyes on the 3rd one !!!

Maybe you should post #3 in the "Intimate Landscapes" themed thread at the top of the forum.

The sand dunes are always great shots but the one I like best is the north face of Black Canyon. The warm light makes this different than most other shots I've ever seen from this location, nice timing!

Some of the best sand dunes shots I've seen in a while. Well done.

Great Dunes shots! I was only there once but, did not come away with anything this good. Nice job! Also good capture of the Black Canyon- difficult place to shoot- you were obviously there at the right time of day to get some color.

Whoa! #2 is stunning!! I'd put that on my wall in a second (I do agree with the crop suggestion, though). Also like "contact" and the Black Canyon shot is also superb; the lighting is perfect.

Nicely seen. I have not been to GSD, but these are really nice, especially #2, 4 & 5 with the nice lines and tones. I agree with the crop off the top of 2. #3 looks too contrasty in the footprints to me. If you try a slight crop off the bottom of #5, what do you think?

Awesome series! All of the Dunes shots are very well composed and so well lit. I love the old man and the dog and the black shadows in the intimate views!

Absolutely spectacular series! Got my heart rate going.

If you are inclined to crop #2 as suggested, I'd also try a square crop. You'd lose a lot of balance by cropping from the top. Square maintains the wonderful balance of earth and sky. A standout b/w!

Thanks a lot everyone for the comments and suggestions! Sounds like some cropping fun to have for me!

Just a great set of images. #1, 2, and 3 really resonate, and the Black Canyon shot is expertly seen and captured. :toast:

Really fantastic Sand Dunes set my friend.

Who needs sunflowers when you can walk way with work like this amazing portfolio!?
I love each and every one of these. It seems difficult for many to get a decent shot from the Black Canyon, but you really pulled it off well here.

I agree with all the others. The second shot is the most amazing (with Todd's crop). Thank you very much for sharing.

Yes, Crop!!
Outstanding series, my friend!
#1 is awesome too, and i like the first balloon shot a lot. :wavey:

Really well done throughout.

# 2 is balanced. If you feel the ulhc cloud should be removed, I would suggest cloning rather than cropping to achieve that goal. It keeps the balance of the image and there is plenty of room to bring the surrounding gradient in.

Great work all around! I think #2 would really work with a square crop as suggested.

Great color and light in #6.
