I was leaving Elmley on Sunday afternoon, and had stopped to pack my gear away when this little guy turned up at a puddle on the opposite side of the road. He and his mates were there for 10-15 minutes drinking and feeding.
Conditions were very contrasty, sunny, no cloud, so I have toned this shot down a lot.

I do like this David colours look great you have done well if it was that bright would have worked a bit better if the head had been turned a bit more so to see the eye a bit more clearly
Great little birds these David, you can understand why they were kept as pets many years ago. Happy as is re HA, but sadly I find the shadow rather distracting.

David, I agree with Karen and would prefer to have seen the head turned a little more. Andrew

At least he has one eye on you, agree on the shadow but a nice shot indeed.

Nits mentioned and I think I would have been inclined to reduce the ISO in those conditions unless you were trying to get some bathing action of course..?

Hi David
Nice pose and composition - agree the head turn could have been better but still a very nice image.

Brett, you are right, that was what I was hoping for. All I got were some sparrows bathing and an astonished looking goldfinch standing there stoically whilst they covered it in muddy water.
As for the angle of the head, that is one of the things I like most about the picture. Minority of one, not for the first time in my life. Criticisms still welcome though, and thanks for those so far.
