Starlings over Cley marshes
As Mark has mentioned, we had an interesting time in Norfolk, but it takes a special kind of plonker to come away from a trip like that with a favourite shot of some starlings. Images are all about memories for me and this one will always remind me what it feels like to still have a mile left to reach the car when I am wearing too many coats, late on a hot afternoon. Up since 3 am, missed all the best shots and as the camera gets heavier and heavier, so the will to live recedes. I am sure you've all been there too.

5D2; 100-400 @ 400
iso 400; 1/1600; f6.3
h/h; m/e; cropped for pano and minor rotation. 2 half birds cloned from each side.

LARGER VERSION

C&C welcome as always

Eric I like the soft light and the wing tips highlighting that, sadly would like to have more starlings in the scene. As you say, its all about having fun and enjoying things, but ALSO the memories the images hold too. I am sure this one will bring a smile back each time you view it.

BTW The killer for me was at Snettisham walking back, especially as the last vehicle was an estate car from the Autumn watch with one guy in it, remember Mr Goddard, that walk?

Hi Eric,
I like the soft light in this shot too, I find the birds are evenly spread, that gives a
special mood.
greetings,
Bertl

If you get an image that holds memories for you that is all that matters at the end of the day. I rather like this. Looks rather more like a painting than a photograph.

Your post did bring a smile to my face Eric.

Certainly an attractive image, the light is lovely.

I do remember the walk and what you looked like after I 'put my foot down a bit'

As for the piccie - it brought back memories of 80,000 starlings at Titchwell last Autumn, and I'd also like to see more birds but the back lighting works well :wavey: :toast:

Hi Eric

I really like this - the backlighting works really well.

A nice atmosphere has been created here Eric. Backlighting through the wings is very effective.

Cheers
