Taken in the Straits of Gibraltar during a drift dive (very strong currents) at about 100ft. Size approx 2.5 to 3 ft. Distance to camera about 3 ft. Only had a few chances with this one as the strong current was always pushing me away.

Love looking at U/W images, this is a great image of the octopus with nice eye contact, the light certaianly helps to accentuate the depth and I like the way the fall off follows the shape of the animal.

great octopus image. they really are not the easiest subjects to photograph, normally when i find one they are stuck in a crevice with just one eye poking out and if they are out of a crack they are running hell for leather in the opposite direction
i really like this as the pose it is giving at this moment really captures the slithery way that they move. nice colour reproduction and dof too.
looks quite a gloomy dive, would be intereted to hear what else can be found in the straits of gibraltar.

Good shot John - he's getting pissed off by the look of that white tinge round the tentacles. I do love octopi and it is difficult to resist tormenting them a little just for those colour and shape changes.

Ditto to all of the above - but had to add my praise of such a fantastic image!

Very nice - wouldn't like to go down there myself though.
I like the darkening - the way you don't know what else is out there....
Now I remember why I never bothered to swim
I'm always intrigued by u/w shots, not just for the content, but also for the technical ability needed to get shots as this.
Super
