Hi All,

Just spent the last 5 days in the Buffalo River area. Here is what I have seen:

Boxley Area (Oct 10-11): Still lots of green but there is some nice yellow/orange/reds here and there. Eden Falls and Triple Falls are almost completely dry. Steel Creek area mostly green and low water but some good reflections to be had.

Richland Creek (Oct 12th): The route from Hill Cemetery to Twin Falls is very overgrown and at times difficult to find the old road. I hung flagging in the trees so I could find my way back out!! Some nice colors along Long Devil's fork. Creek is very low and dry in places. Twin Falls is just a trickle. Man! The rocks in this creek are like walking on ice!!

Falling Water Road (Oct 13th): Very nice country lane with some good color here and there. Fog in morning is nice. Falling Water Falls had a little falling water. 6 Finger Falls had just a trickle but nice orange/yellows on the opposite bank.

Petit Jean (Oct 14th): Cedar Falls--More than a trickle but not by much. Leaves are mostly green here. A few nice splashes of color here and there. No water falling under Davies bridge.

Even without the water levels of last year I still had a good time and this is some beautiful country. The lack of signs was frustrating at times as I had to keep doubling back to find certain roads. But overall it was a good trip. I'm now headed towards the Smokies. Colors in this area (Cumberland Plateau) are not looking promising--lots of muddy browns and greens. Hoping the Smokies are better. Thanks to everyone who provided advice for my Arkansas trip!! :toast: I'll try to post some images in Nov when I get home.

Thanks for the report Phillip I'm thinking of making a quick trip to the area and the updates are very helpful.

Phillip,

Many thanks for the report. I'll be around Tyler Bend the first week in November, maybe I'll get to see some color this year.
