Sorry for not being around, I have been swamped with loads of work in office with an upcoming release for the past couple of months. I took a brief break last weekend and drove for about 7hrs to this place from bay area only to find that most of the colors are gone. So that means I would need to wait for another year
Any comments/critiques appreciated.
Does anybody know how is the June lake and Lee Vining shaping up ? It was mostly green last week with few patches of color. I was thinking of making another brief visit coming weekend but not sure it its worth.
Btw, one of my Feisol tripod leg came off the base. I tried gluing it but it won't stay for long. the tripod has served me well for past 2 yrs and it was pretty solid, light weight and stable. I have been looking at Gitzo but the price is keeping me off and also not sure which model to go with. Are they worth the upgrade ? Any other suggestion ?

Hi Debjit,
Even though as you said most of the color is gone, I still likes what left, how it just surrounds the waters edge. A nice shot indeed.
Real good job working with what you had. This is composed very well and as John points out, the color surrounding the water works. Well done!

Ditto regarding previous comments. Owing to the colors
and lighting, this is very pretty. I wish that I could help
you concerning your tripod questions, but I have no
thoughts on the subject. Thanks for posting.

Debjit, there is just enough color scattered about to hold the viewer's eye.
I had a fiesol and returned because I couldn't touch the camera inbetween exposures with out movement and with the Gitzo I can do that even when the legs are in odd positions. I even dropped from about 35 ft and it still works fine. I haven't had to replace it so compared all the other tripods I've broken, it's worth it.

June near silver lake to Parker bench was awesome yesterday (10-16). Lots out and about too. Even saw McCoy and Vern on the loop. It's probably about 70-80% turned w/lots of reds.
Re:gitzo, I have been using the g 3540LS for the las two years and every time I use it it a dream, quick set up w/the twist locks, long legs that can be quickly put in any odd ball arrangement and rock solid in the wind. Ya pricey, but it gets me a lot sharper images and is easy to use.

Debjit,
Great shot first of all!
Check out the Velbon carbon fiber legs. I have had the El Carmagne 630A for ~ 4 years and they're still going strong. I know many others who like it as well. Here is a comparison with Gitzo and other comparable legs. IMO, they are the best bang for the buck in CF:
Only thing is I'm not sure if the GEO 630 replaced El Carmagne model as I don't see the EC for sale as much now. The snap locks are great in the cold. That was a huge plus while living in CO and when shooting the Sierra.
