Dear all,

My current berno tripod is not working (one leg is completely loosen). Instead of fixing it, I am considering to buy a gitzo tripod. The one I am considering is Gitzo GT2531EX. But I don't really know much about this tripod, hope photographers here who have experiences of using it can give me some information and advices.

I travel a lot, so I need a relatively light weight tripod, Gitzo GT2531EX is about 1.8kg, so this one seems OK to me. I also need a small minimum height sometimes, this one has a minimum height of 3 cm.

I am using 5D Mark II and lenses are 16-35mm f/2.8II and 70-200mm f/2.8 IS.

Anothere quesiton is: may I use my current berno ball head to this gitzo tripod?

Thanks very much for your input.

Yan, I use this Tripod  . Its great for the work I do (low level and Macro mostly) and the swivelling center arm is a god send.

You can mount any ballhead on it provided the screw dimension matches the bore on your ballhead.

Take a look at Feisol - I have been using one for 2 yrs after returning a Gitzo series 3, and have absolutely no regrets - rock solid, well-made, great customer service as long as you deal with the factory in China - you take your chances when you purchase from the US dealer. The "tournament class" tripod should meet your needs - and if your ball head has a standard thread on the bottom it should fit most any set of legs.

Hi Yan, I use the 2531 too and highly recommend it. Ballhead is Really Right Stuff BH40.
