i need to organise some insurance for my underwater equipment, but i'm a bit at a loss as to what to do because i spend so much time out of the UK. i used to rely on contents insurance from my house, but as that is now rented out i can't do that.
does anyone know of any reasonably priced insurers that will cover for long periods outside the UK?
any help appreciated.

Hi Mark,
I have just rung my insurance company which is Glover & Howe and they do not cover residents outside the UK, so that is one you can cross off the list.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Mark
I use a specialist insurer to insure my camera gear
http://www.aua-insurance.com/
They're quite reasonable and provide cover for overseas trips too
I use E&L (Equine and Livestock ) who are very reasonably priced and have an all risks, international cover policy available.
The excess is quite high, but thankfully I've not yet had to make a claim so can't tell you whether they are good in paying up

Just my two pence worth - I had major (read expensive) problems with E&L over an international claim. It was only because of the very strong guidance I gained from this site (thanks Richard) that I recovered anything at all.
Your milage may vary of course.

Have you tried phoning BSAC and asking?
