Is this a red knot?
This morning on a mangrove beach on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, south Florida. Larger that a sanderling, smaller than a short-billed dowitcher.

I was pretty sure I was dealing with a flock of knots. This bird was a loner. The slight curve of the bill made me think it might be a dunlin, but I dismissed it. Now that I compare it with other birds in the flock, their bills are straighter and perhaps shorter, but the markings are quite similar. I'll post another picture to see if my flock were knots, but not tonight. *yawn*

This bird was sitting, alone, for the longest time. I thought it might be sick or injured. An instant before I pressed the shutter, the tide came in and it stood up to avoid sitting in the water. I looked away and it was gone.
