Cruising around the bend the just after you take the road to North Lake in BCC I stumbled on this big aspen. I don't have a lot of history with Aspen so at this point this is one of the biggest I've seen in person. If memory serves I think I used a polarizer for this one so that is why the color is fairly vivid. The only other PP was to burn down the FG a bit and reduce saturation. Compression is at depressing 50% on this to get to proper file size.
Thanks for looking and/or commenting.

That is a grand tree and excellent job capturing it. Great color all around.
You might consider burning down the aspens surrounding the main tree, especially on the right. It will kind of frame the focal point of the image. Maybe even a little photoshop vignetting around the corners and edges as well. It looks great as presented, but just throwing out ideas.
I am finding nasty compression on all my aspen shots. I am lucky if I am saving at 50%. Sometimes it is in the low 40's and the compression is hammering the files. I wish we could post bigger here, but such is life. At least we can add a 1200 pixel image at ESS.

Well done, Mike. It looks like you had great even lighting.
The colors are gorgeous. There are nice tonal variations.
The green adds a little contrast in colors that is appropriate.
Thanks for sharing.

Mike,
That is indeed one magnificent aspen! The trunk looks to be in pretty good shape. Although the comp is pretty straight forward, I really like that the background cliffs allow the top of the tree to stand out a bit. Great color throughout.
In all the years of Eastern Sierra fall photos, I'm surprised we've never seen this guy. Glad you got 'em though.

I've been up the North Lake road many times...how could I have missed this beauty? I'll certainly watch for it next time. Nice cath, MIke.
