Semi OT: A different day at RMA NWR
Friday was a big day at RMA, "A Vision Fulfilled" signing ceremony officially declaring it a refuge. The Army and Shell held up their end of the deal and completed the Superfund cleanup that took a quarter century. Ken Salazar and Ed Perlmutter were among the local dignitaries to speak and Secretary Salazar did a nice job of capturing the history and importance as an urban refuge.

After that, I was asked to photograph a controlled burn to eliminate crested wheat grass that is crowding out native species.

Wow, great shots! And great news! Are any of the photos on the banner behind Salazar yours?

Break out the hot dogs!! Cool shot. I like the impressionistic effect from the heat waves.

Sweet fire shot; nice to see a useful fire after all the home destroying ones we've had lately.
