I just got back into town from California. I had planned this trip a few months ago to visit my some family back in my home town a few hours north of LA. On the way I planned to stop by the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. Well, I heard that the poppy bloom was going to be very late if at all this year. Too late to change my plans, I went anyway and drove around the desert looking for wildflowers. I found a few in the Tehachapi foothills. No field of carpet blooms, but a few small groups that worked well for macro.
I think this comp is sweet. I feel like it needs a little more contrast. A certain keeper.

This is one of my favorite shots of yours, I love it. You could maybe boost the contrast a bit, but this is a wonderful poppy shot. I've always wanted to do some macro poppy shots, I can't wait till they're in bloom here. Thanks for posting it Tim.

Thanks guys, thanks Ryan for pointing out the contrast. I agree. I will boost it and post to the Flora forum.

You are the flower master! I think it is marvy....
Very cool. I agree with the others about it needing a push, but also try boosting just the background greens, they look a little washed out from my memory of those flowers. I really like the golden haze created by the foreground flower, nice touch!

Agreed with all the above. It's a keeper!
