Had a book signing Tuesday night in Durango so I left Tuesday morning from Steamboat and along the way the cottonwoods were incredible. Unfortunately I didn't have time to stop anywhere except I just had to quickly make a detour to check out Dallas Divide. Wednesday was Mesa Verde (never been there) and dinner that evening in Cortez with John Mumaw. Then yesterday driving the west side of Colorado through Dolores and Unaweep Canyons to Grand Junction and on back to Steamboat. Over 1,000 miles...phew! Here's one photograph from along the San Miguel River. If you want to see more from the trip, go Here.

Love the variety of colors in this post Rod (especially that BRIGHT red bush in the shade of the cottonwoods) and your other pics are terrific as well. This seems like the season that keeps on giving as far as fall colors are concerned. I can't believe there was still that much color on display on the divide??! I really like the "Ranch at Sneffels" shot. Mesa Verde is fun to shoot as well. When the sun begins to set and those red tones begin to glow, the photos just sing. Nice work and congrats again on the book signing!

Oh yeah, is that a smorgosbord for the eyes! Fantastic array of color and texture. Great shot!

Wonderful colors, Rod. Hey, and there was a cloud or two.
I agree with "all of the above". It is nice to see clouds again after a time of too much
"clear blue" cloudless skies.

Glad you made it home safely, Rod. Hasn't stopped raining since you left. Did it follow you here?
You got some excellent shots at Mesa Verde, especially Square Tower ruin. They don't get any better that that! The Dolores River cottonwood is one I like a lot, too.
Your new book is simply fantastic! Thank you so much, sir.
