A note from Roxanne Ray, Ph.D. Program Manager, Academic Programs in the Arts
University of Washington:

Here at UW Educational Outreach, we are considering launching an Artist-in-Residence program, and would like your recommendations and referrals.

The parameters are expected to be:
Artists will spend one month in residence
75% FTE will be spent creating and presenting artistic work
25% FTE will be spent offering Master Classes, workshops, guest speaking
Housing to be arranged and paid for by the artist-in-residence, possibly using our Visiting Faculty Housing Service
Compensation: $5,000 plus travel expenses to/from Seattle

Artist Selection will be based upon:
National reputation
Appeal of proposed Master Classes (in three categories: Craft/Skills, Investigations, Career Development)
Ability to provide mentoring through individual interaction and guest-speaking in class with our students
Please view our Arts programs here: http://www.pce.uw.edu/art-write-culture.html
UW ability to connect Artist with local organizations (such as yours) and campus partners
UW ability to provide any necessary facilities/equipment not provided by Artist
Distance from Seattle and uniqueness of opportunity for our students
Variety in the artistic disciplines represented throughout each year

There may also be limited opportunities for very high-profile individuals to visit for a shorter period of time, for a stipend of $20,000 plus travel.

Please help by letting me know whether your organization, PNWNP, might be interested in partnering on this project (perhaps by providing speaking or presenting opportunities to your members), and whether you can recommend qualified and interested artists whom you’d particularly like to see us bring to Seattle. (You may also direct interested artists to contact me directly for more information and/or to begin the application process.)

Please also let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Roxanne
