Hope killing two 'birds' with one stone is ok here.
This photo is just after sunrise near Springfield Missouri. I was intrigued by the on water V these geese were making.

Question: CR2 file format from Canon G12 can not be read by CS5 (as far as I have found). Confirmed online by a few forums. I have downloaded the latest Camera Raw from Adobe.

Any solutions or work arounds?

Thanks guys,
Rod

My understanding is that Canon's DPP software package, which should have come with your camera, can be used to convert the RAW files to DNG format, which can then be used by CS5.

I love the shot. The birds are nicely arranged, and the silhouettes, reflections, and fog work well. I think I would take a look at cropping about one fifth from the bottom, because to me the bright out of focus area detracts from the serene mood of the rest of the image.

Answer:
The software that comes with the G12 will convert CR2 files to tif or jpeg but not to DNG.
Adobe has a software that will do the conversion while we wait for an Adobe Camera RAW update.
Here is the link to the software.

Rod, I think the Adobe DNG converter covers the same cameras as Adobe Camera Raw. So if ACR can't handle G12 raw files, neither will the DNG converter. But since ACR can open tif files, you should still be able to use the DPP workaround.

ACR 6.3 release candidate, which includes support for the G12, is now available.
